Generosity

Generosity

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for "God loves a cheerful giver." 2 Corinthians 9:7

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all our church members and visitors for their generosity. Faithful giving enables our church to be a welcoming, caring place of worship for all who walk through our doors. Because of such kindness and support, we are able to share God’s love, offer hospitality, and serve our community with open hearts.

We give to say thank you to God for all that He gives to us. If you would like to give financially to God through St Peter’s Church, there are many ways in which this can be done.

Gift Aid and Your Donations

St Peter’s Church has charitable status. (Link to Church of England document).

Gift Aid is a UK government scheme that allows churches and other charities to claim back tax on donations made by UK taxpayers. By completing a Gift Aid declaration, you can increase the value of your donation at no extra cost to you.

For every £1 donated, the church can reclaim 25p from HMRC, making your donation worth £1.25. This additional income helps support the mission and ministry of the church.

Who can give through Gift Aid?

You can use Gift Aid if:

  • You are a UK taxpayer

  • You pay enough Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax in the tax year to cover the amount the church reclaims on your donations [gov.uk]

Please note that taxes such as VAT or Council Tax do not count for Gift Aid purposes.

Gift Aid declarations

To enable the church to claim Gift Aid, please complete the relevant Gift Aid declaration:

  • Single donation

  • Multiple Donation . This can cover all future donations and donations made in the past (up to four years) [gofile.co.uk]

Leaving a Legacy to St Peter’s Church

Leaving a gift in your will is a lasting way to support the future of our church. Even a small legacy can make a real difference, helping the church continue its work of worship, care, and community outreach for generations to come.
